Tropical Storm Bret

Potential Tropical Cyclone Two (PTC2) formed on June 18, 2017 East of the Lesser Antilles with a maximum sustained wind speed of 35 mph. Potential Tropical Cyclone was a new term created by the National Hurricane Center in 2017 to describe a system expected to develop into a tropical storm or depression.

As of the 5 p.m. advisory on June 19, 2017, the system was upgraded to Tropical Storm Bret, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 40 mph and a central pressure of 1007 mb just northeast of Guyana and Venezuela's border. Image courtesy of the NASA GOES system
