Mesoscale Convective System (MCS)

An MCS is a weather system associated with severe weather that tracks long distances and impacts the areas in its path. These events have high winds and hail associated with then, and sometimes tornadoes. An MCS is contained to the size it can grow, but often is concentrated within a 50 to 200 mile diameter.

An MCV is the driving mechanism for an MCS to form. SouthernWx Home
