Dendritic Growth Zone (DGZ)

The layer at which deposition occurs and snowflakes are formed. This occurs with temperatures between -10c and -20c with a maximization occurring at -12-18c. To go along with temperatures this cold in the atmosphere you must have sufficient saturation and lift in this layer. A lack of saturation and lift will leave you with drizzle or light rain as your predominant p-type.
