Tropical Depression Eight

TD 8 formed at the 11 AM advisory just off the Coast of Africa behind what was later in the day known as TD 9. It formed with winds of 35 mph winds and a central pressure of 1004 mb.

  • ECMWF - Slowly strengthens to a cat 2 hurricane that recurves and strengthens to its max after the recurve. Pressure in low 970s.
  • CMC - TS that gets absorbed by TD 9.
  • GFS - TS into a hurricane quickly, reaching cat 1 or 2 strength before curving northward. Not as dramatic as FV3. Pressure reaches upper 960 mbs.
  • FV3 - TS right off the coast of Africa, then develops into a cat 1 hurricane and recurves early OTS, max around cat 2 and pressure in the 970s.
  • NAVGEM - Moderate TS that gets absorbed by TD 9.
  • UKMET - Recurves earliest and stays a TS.
  • ICON - Strong TS that quickly curves like UKMET.
  • HWRF - TS that strengthens into a cat 3 and pressure in the 950 mbs.
  • HMON - Weak TS that curves slowly.
