The 2017 hurricane season was one of the most active in recent history, and even shattered records for the strongest category 5 hurricane outside of the main Caribbean region in which they formed. The season had 17 named storms, or above original forecasts, but within the adjustment by NOAA. The US has several billion dollar hits from the multiple storms that hit it withing a couple of months, kicking off with Harvey, then Irma, and finally Maria to Puerto Rico. There were 6 landfalls in all, and the most consecutive hurricanes in a row as well, reaching 10 hurricanes back to back.
